In its renowned Belgian Technovation Centre (R&D), our client, a leader in glass innovation, is expanding its activities by developing cutting-edge solutions for automotive, architectural and chemicals, developing and exploiting breakthroughs. Its chemicals’ activities cover essential chemicals (mainly chlorine and alkaline chemistry), performance chemicals (fluorinated gases and solvents), fluoropolymer, and water electrolysis (with the most promising hydrogen generating technologies thanks to the Proton Exchange Membrane Water Electrolysis process).

Thanks to PEM, they ambition to become number one in Europe expanding hydrogen-related developments.

This growth in Belgium offers an exciting opportunity for a Group Leader in Water Electrolysis to spearhead innovation in this burgeoning field.

Key Responsibilities

As the Group Leader for Water Electrolysis membrane evaluation, you will:

  • Manage the people, budget and lab facilities (planning, selection, purchasing, set up, expansion) of the Water Electrolysis group
  • Strongly support the project manager responsible for operational management and customer support in your team
  • Discuss membrane developments with internal (incl. R&D Japan) and external stakeholders
  • Proactively propose ideas for future developments and long-term evaluation activity
  • Visit customers, exhibitions and related industrial or standardisation meetings and communicate findings

Candidate Profile:

  • A Master's degree (a PhD preferred) in Chemistry (electrochemistry)
  • 3 to 8 years of experience in Electrochemistry, chemical engineering, thermodynamics (PEM)
  • Experience in People management (preferably in R&D)
  • Fluent in English (speaking, reading and writing)
  • Good communication with team members, internal/external stakeholders
