It develops cutting-edge technologies aiming to demonstrate potential for the treatment of a broad range of serious diseases across oncology, cardiovascular, neurological and ocular diseases, and genetic disorders.

Building on its success, this company, multi-located across Europe, is looking for an inspirational head of Chemistry managing a team of scientists designing and developing cell therapies based on its exciting in vivo gene delivery platform.

Position

The candidate will work seamlessly across all functions to evaluate the biological properties, mechanism of action, efficacy and safety of drug candidates, aligned with corporate goals and objectives and within the allocated budget.

In addition to the oversight of laboratory experimental work, this position embraces the performance management and development of the Biology team members, compliance with health and safety regulations, and adherence to data integrity policies.



Main missions:

  • Design, execution and coordination of experimental strategy and plans
  • Development, validation and implementation of cellular models
  • Design and production of experimental tools required for the fulfillment of the company’s research and development plans
  • Operational management of the labs
  • Leading and management of an internal team comprising technicians, senior technicians, engineers and PhDs
  • Review and validation of study plans and internal reports (for both in vitro and in vivo studies)
  • Writing, review and validation of technical documents (SOP, WI, REC…) and health and safety procedures linked to lab activities
  • Preparation of scientific documents for senior leadership, board meetings and due diligence for investors and industrial partners
  • Involvement in the dissemination of company’s scientific results (patents, scientific publications, communications at international conferences)
  • Preparation/renewal of GMO application dossiers, follow-up of interactions with competent authorities
  • Preparation and writing of annual CIR dossier (in French)



Profile

You hold a PhD with specialization in cell and molecular biology. You have at least 5 years of experience in a biotech or pharma environment out of academia.

Strong skills in multicolor flow cytometry is compulsory, preferably with experience in immune-oncology
Expertise in cell-based assay development is compulsory

Excellent knowledge of plasmid engineering and proficiency in handling molecular biology software are highly desirable
Experience in in vivo gene therapy is compulsory and experience in immunotherapy is highly desirable.
Expertise in lentiviral vectors and knowledge of GLP highly preferable

Fluency in French is mandatory and a good command of English is necessary as well.
Able to work in a cross-functional, matrix environment, you are familiar with working within a quality assurance system
Experienced in developing high performing teams and endowed excellent leadership capabilities and with an enterprising, dynamic and operational spirit, you have a taste for challenge and a sense of responsibility.
You are agile and pro-active and demonstrate a high level of autonomy.

Determined and organized, you are a thorough person with a strong team spirit and faculty to adapt together with good communication skills.
